Summary: Asia Islamic Fashion Week (AIFW) wrapped up its 4-day fashion marathon of beautiful modest dresses.

There was a total number of 100 exhibitors, 100 designers, 80 global trade buyers – business executives, fashion influencers, fashion photographers and the entire media buzz from over 20 countries came to Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC) to embrace the power Islamic fashion.
“Brands or designers are part of [the modest fashion], and together we can uplift our Islamic values, incorporating it into design and fashion” Said Fuza Umar, organizer and founder of AIFW.
There were many designers mainly from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, France, Netherland, USA, Japan and UAE attended to showcase their elegant collections to global audiences
AIFW tried to create a platform for Islamic fashion business community to share experience and exchange their knowledge.
The opening ceremony included a 30 minutes exchange of ideas and thoughts by leaders of Islamic fashion. “Hijab is a holistic thing, let us not reduce it to just a scarf,” said Alia Khan, Chairwoman of Islamic Fashion and Design Council, or IFDC, during her keynote speech.
“Let’s change the rhetoric going on across the globe, let us also remind ourselves that many whom may not even wear the scarf may pose a more beautiful sense of hijab than those who wear the scarf– let us not judge anyone,” Said Khan.
About 62% of the world’s Muslims live in the Asia-Pacific region, including Indonesia, the most populous Muslim country in the world.
Some exhibitors were concerned about international visitors were seen less as compare to local visitors.
