Summary: Shoppers rave recently began boycotting Ivanka Trump’s clothing line as a form of protest against Donald Trump’s misogyny.
Throughout Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, which has been defined by his misogyny and prejudice, the candidate’s oldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, has remained steadfastly by his side. Though her father repeatedly made overtly sexist remarks against women, she still positioned herself as an advocate of women’s rights.
Now other women are trying to hold Ivanka Trump accountable for her father’s statements. Shannon Coulter, CEO of a communications agency in San Francisco, has called for a boycott of Ivanka’s fashion line, the Ivanka Trump Collection. Not only is she calling for a boycott from consumers, but she’s also asking retailers to break ties.
People are using #GrabYourWallet—a reference to Trump’s infamous remarks in leaked Access Hollywood footage from 2005—to spread word of the boycott. Coulter’s movement has quickly one viral.
Retailers who currently sell Ivanka Trump’s products include Dillard’s, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom, and Neiman Marcus, and Coulter encourages followers to call the stores to protest.
