Why Did I Trouble Myself to Create Modest Fashion Media

Please do me two favors. First, please see this video and subscribe to my channel. And second, please write “Muslim women” on the google search box of your device. Then, see what kind of pictures you see.

Being a Muslim woman, I assure you that what you see is not the reality on the ground in those countries. Women in Iran, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Malaysia, and other Muslim-majority nations are vibrant members of their societies. Many women in those countries are agents of change. To view them passive, in dark clothes, always walking behind men, to be perceived weak and the victim doesn’t do them justice at all. In fact these perspectives are derogatory and ignorant.

In this video, I am talking about the fact that I was so mad about the media presentation of Muslim women. I was so determined to do something about it. In 2013, I took a group of photographers and volunteers to take pictures of colorful, happy, engaged, and proud women at the Eid al-Firt. Listen to what I have to say. And, tell me of what you think.
