Five companies are the best places for women to advance their careers, according to a national competition conducted by the Business Council for Peace ( Bpeace ).
The Bpeace Women Forward Awards will be recognizing organizations and individuals who are mentoring women forward on June 6, 2019, in New York City at an Awards Breakfast at the Cornell Club. Following a nationwide call for nominations, a blue-ribbon panel of female CEO-level judges selected from among 45 finalists representing a range of industries and sectors.
The 2019 Women Forward organizational winners are:
OUTSTANDING WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT
- Anheuser Busch InBev. In a historically male dominated industry, Anheuser Busch InBev‘s (ABI) Women in Beer Global Mentoring Program created a female talent pool and mentoring program to ensure that women get the support and visibility needed to advance. Today, nearly half of ABI’s US breweries are led by female brew masters and half of the marketing leadership team is female, with women leading three of the top brands, marketing insights and capabilities. ABI has created a culture of equal opportunity at a global level with a focus on advancing women forward.
- Financial Times. One of the world’s leading business news and information organizations, the Financial Times realized they needed to expand their female audience in order to grow the business. FT has implemented a diversity program which encompasses a 50/50 gender parity goal in senior leadership by 2022, family-friendly benefit packages, flexible work arrangements and 50/50 gender parity on recruitment short lists, as well as a mentoring program aimed at women at different stages in their career. The FT has demonstrated how systemic change aligned with business strategy can drive success.
- Skillshareis an online learning community with thousands of classes in design, business, tech and many more. Their goal is to make the new economy an open meritocracy, where the skills and expertise needed to succeed are available for anyone willing to learn them. Their no negotiation ‘take it or leave it’ wage policy is perhaps the most disruptive. Salary is assigned according to job type and skill level, not based on negotiating skills, resulting in true gender wage parity at the company. - ZS Associatesis a global consulting firm with a work culture often described as a ‘caring meritocracy.’ The Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) is dedicated to the advancement of women through mentorship, networking and inclusion. MENTORING PROGRAM OF DISTINCTION
- OmnicomFounded in 2014, Omniwomen is a catalyst to increase the influence and numbers of senior women at Omnicom. There are now 15 chapters around the world with mentorship programs and events designed to build women’s confidence to have the important conversations with their supervisors about promotion, compensation and career paths. The Omniwomen program has led to impressive results in terms of promoting women globally with female CEOs now heading three global Omnicom agencies.
The Bpeace Women Forward Judges were Karen Vander Linde, Executive Mentor, Merryck & Co.; Lisa Hetfield, Interim Director, Rutgers Institute for Women’s Leadership; Kathleen King, Founder, Tate’s Bake Shop; and Alicia Hamilton, SVP of Strategy and Growth, Worth.

The Bpeace Women Forward Awards will be presented on June 6, 2019, in New York City at an Awards Breakfast at the Cornell Club. Proceeds from the breakfast will support Bpeace’s international mentoring and advisory program for businesswomen in historically violent communities.
