On Thursday, 29 March, Asia Islamic Fashion Week 2018 (#AIFW2018) opens its door for the second year to welcome over 10,000 visitors, including local and international press to buyers, broadcasters, designers and industry insiders from over 10 countries. This will be the 2nd edition of the Asia Islamic Fashion Week which will be held for four (4) days between Thursday, 29 March and Sunday, 1 April 2018 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MiTEC), Kuala Lumpur.

 

The event is set to feature an opening show themed “Batik & Songket” on its first day followed by seven (7) more three (3) days runway shows which will showcase emerging talents as well as internationally renowned fashion labels. The diverse schedule of #AIFW2018 also  includes a uniquely designed trade event featuring a blend of Muslim wear with cutting-edge style which are within the Islamic context. The trade event will be participated by 80 Islamic-inspired booths from Halal cosmetics, accessories, Muslim lifestyle brands and Sharia-compliant resources.

AIFW2018 schedule  

Over 30 designers will be taking over the #AIFW2018 runway stage, showcasing their designs across seven (7) fashion show slots. They include Bulbulia (South Africa) and Kamiidea (Indonesia) in partnership with the Celessence UK. Prominent Malaysia designers such as Rico Rinaldi, Cosry, Naelofar Hijab, Imaan Boutique, Bianco Mimosa, Eja Shahril and Ridzuan Bohari will be on schedule to showcase their latest collections. Meanwhile Fizi Woo and Syomir Izwa will be featured in the exhibition hall.

Internationally celebrated Indonesian designers; Laudya Cynthia Bella, Ayu Dyah Andari and Kursein Karzai will present their new collection on Friday. As well as Jeny Tjahyawati and Zainal Songket on Saturday. Nina Nughoro and Ivan Gunawan respectively on the final day, Sunday.

New to the line-up this year are Chic (Iran) and Maryam Bakhtiari (Iran), who will debut their new collection for the first time in Kuala Lumpur. Faramas (Iran), Mukhitdinova Shokhida (Uzbekistan), Maya Cosmetic (USA), Berolin (Japan), Zahara (Singapore) and Anjilla Seddeqi (Australia) will showcase to an audience of trade and consumers at the exhibition hall. Other international brands joining the exhibition include Indah Ederra (Indonesia) alongside Malaysian homegrown fashion labels Aidijuma, Syarifah Mudaim,Waarna and Style Annexe Hashtag Hartamas.

Malaysia’s pioneering emerging womenswear talent being showcased this year are Mak Cun by Erma Fatima, Sofea Rose, Miraki, Maqilla, Daanya, Peace Collection, Hanees Hijabees and Watie Collection which will be on runway stage in both Saturday and Sunday.
